The alert arrives late, or never
A photo in a group of a thousand people is not an alert. Nobody knows who is nearby or who already went.

Frequently asked questions
Is the app free for people who report?
Yes. Reporting, browsing the map, and chatting cost nothing, and that is not planned to change: without neighbours reporting there is no network.
Is it on iPhone?
We are starting with Android, which is where most people are in the cities where the network begins, and iOS comes after. If you have an iPhone, leave us your email anyway: we will write the moment there is a version for you, and knowing how many of you there are helps us decide when.
How are the alerted rescuers chosen?
By geographic proximity. The backend computes which rescuers fall inside the report’s radius and notifies them; if their app is open, the case shows up straight on the map.
What if there is no rescuer nearby?
It can happen, especially early on and where there are still few of us. The report stays on the neighbourhood map and remains visible to anyone who opens the app nearby, and to the registered clinics in the area too. Caramelito does not guarantee that someone will go: it coordinates the people who are there. The more neighbours and clinics there are in your area, the faster the network answers, and that is why the app is free.
Can I keep my pet’s medical record?
Yes. Every vaccine, check-up, or treatment the clinic files is dated on the animal’s record and you see it in the app, without asking anyone for it.
How do the reminders work?
When the clinic files something with a next date (a vaccine, a check-up), the app notifies you before it is due. Nothing to schedule by hand.
Who sees my location when I report?
The location of the report is seen by rescuers in the area and by the clinic that takes the referral, and it is used to work out who is close. It is not your home: it is the spot where you saw the animal. Your address is not published, your phone number is not shared, and the chat lives inside the app. None of this is sold or used for advertising.
What happens to the data of treated animals?
The medical record belongs to the clinic that files it. The owner sees a summary and their reminders in the app; nothing is published to the feed.
What state is the project in?
The mobile app is in development with the report and rescue loop working, and the clinic dashboard is at this stage running on demonstration data.
